This tour is ide­al for the inde­pen­dent trav­el­er that also enjoys the cama­raderie of shar­ing some tours with oth­er trav­el­ers. The tour is host­ed com­bin­ing inde­pen­dent tour­ing and trans­porta­tion along with some guid­ed sight­see­ing and excur­sions. This tour oper­ates from April – October, 2025.

Itinerary

DAY 01: ARRIVAL MUNICH AIRPORT (Thursday)

Arrival to the Munich Airport. Transfer by S‑Train from Munich Airport to Munich cen­tral sta­tion. In the after­noon enjoy a guid­ed city tour of Munich which includes the City cen­ter, Nymphenburg Palace and BMW World. Overnight at cen­tral-locat­ed 3 or 4‑star Hotel in Munich close to Munich’s cen­tral station.

DAY 02: EXCURSION TO INNSBRUCK & WATTENS (Friday)

Breakfast is at your hotel. Today’s tour is guid­ing you along some of Bavaria’s most beau­ti­ful lakes, through the Karwendel-moun­tains to Innsbruck, city of the “Golden Roof” in Austria. One of the high­lights of this extra­or­di­nary excur­sion is for sure the vis­it of Swarovski’s “Crystal Worlds” in Wattens. Drive back to Munich in the late after­noon. Overnight at your hotel in Munich. (B)

DAY 03: EXCURSION TO BAVARIAN ROYAL CASTLES (Saturday)

Breakfast is at hotel. Hidden in the seclu­sion of the moun­tains King Ludwig II built two of his dream cas­tles. Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. This excur­sion shows you to extra­or­di­nary cas­tles, both tes­ti­fy­ing to the vision of Bavaria’s fairy­tale King. A short shop­ping stop in Oberammergau is also includ­ed today. After your vis­it at Neuschwanstein cas­tle you have some time for lunch at your leisure. In the late after­noon we dri­ve back to your hotel in Munich.

DAY 04: EXCURSION TO ZUGSPITZE MOUNTAIN (Sunday)

Enjoy your break­fast at your hotel. Our full day excur­sion today, shows us Germany’s high­est moun­tain — Zugspitze. Our first stop today will be made in Ettal where we can see the famous Ettal monastery. Then we dri­ve to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and on to Eibsee where we take the cable-car to the sum­mit of the Zugspitze (9.788 ft.). On a clear day you can see over a thou­sand Bavarian, Austrian, Swiss and Italian moun­tain peaks. Descent by cog-wheel train. After a beau­ti­ful day on the moun­tain we dri­ve back to Munich. Overnight in Munich. (B)

DAY 05: EXCURSION TO ROYAL CASTLE OF HERRENCHIEMSEE (Monday)

After break­fast, trans­fer to Chiemsee. Here on the largest of the Bavarian lakes, Chiemsee, we take a boat ride to the Herreninsel, where you vis­it King Ludwig’s II cas­tle, a repli­ca of the palace of Versailles. We con­tin­ue by boat to Fraueninsel to vis­it the Benedictine church and walk on the island. In the after­noon we take the boat back to Prien. Our coach brings us back to Munich with­in 1 hrs. Overnight in Munich. (B).

DAY 06: SALZBURG (Tuesday)

Breakfast at hotel. After check­ing out of your hotel, take a 2 hour train ride to Salzburg. Welcome to the city of Mozart! Check-in at your cen­tral locat­ed 3 or 4‑star Hotel in Salzburg near to the Mirabell gar­dens. In the ear­ly after­noon we start our city tour of Salzburg. Included in this tour is a 1 ½ hours bus tour show­ing you the main sights of Salzburg. The tour gives you an insight into the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque aspects of the city as Mozart saw it. After the bus tour, you will vis­it the new­ly reopened Mozart Residence, on Makart Square.

Overnight at your hotel in Salzburg.

DAY 07: EXCURSION TO BAVARIAN MOUNTAINS & SALT MINES (Wednesday)

Following break­fast at the hotel, some­thing very dif­fer­ent awaits you today!

After we have past the hunt­ing cas­tle Hellbrunn we cross the Austrian-Bavarian bor­der. Along the Königseeache val­ley, through the Bavarian moun­tains, past roman­tic farm­hous­es and the ruins of Obersalzberg — Hitler’s for­mer moun­tain retreat — we arrive at the high­light of the jour­ney, the 500-year-old Salt-mines. Wearing the tra­di­tion­al min­ers’ cloth­ing, you enter the mines and hear the his­tor­i­cal as well as the leg­endary tales of the fas­ci­nat­ing under­ground world. Using the same slides as hun­dreds of min­ers before you, you go down a 100-foot-long slide into the grot­tos, the mag­i­cal world beneath the sur­face of the earth. With a raft ride on the salt lake and a minia­ture train ride we end our roman­tic and edu­ca­tion­al adventure.

Afterwards you have the chance to regain your strength with some Bavarian spe­cial­i­ties dur­ing a stop in Berchtesgaden. Drive back to Salzburg. Overnight at your hotel in Salzburg. (B)

DAY 08: SALZBURG – MUNICH AIRPORT DEPARTURE (Thursday)

Train ride from Salzburg to the Munich Airport in time to board your flight home.
