Itinerary

Day 1 — MARSEILLES — AVIGNON, FRANCE

Upon arrival to Marseilles air­port you will be met and trans­ferred by pri­vate car to your hotel locat­ed in the his­tor­i­cal cen­ter of Avignon on the left bank of the Rhone River. Today is at your leisure to explore the city on your own.

Day 2 — AVIGNON

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Today you will embark upon a full day sight­see­ing tour includ­ing the Gothic palace of Palais des Papas, the 12th cen­tu­ry Pont d’Avignon (Pont St Benezet). The tour con­tin­ues with a one hour cruise on the Rhone River from Avignon to Barthelasse Island, pass­ing medieval vil­lage, the Fort St. Andre and the Tour Philippe Le Bel.

Day 3 — AVIGNON – NICE

Your morn­ing is at leisure to shop or relax at the hotel’s pool. In the after­noon board your train for Nice, a cos­mopoli­tan town in the heart of the French Riviera. You’ll be met upon arrival and trans­ferred by pri­vate car to your hotel. The remain­der of the day and evening are at your leisure to stroll along the pedes­tri­an Promenade des Anglais.

Day 4 — NICE – MONACO – MONTE CARLO – EZE

This morn­ing enjoy a half day tour of Nice includ­ing the Russian Church, Cimiez Hill, the Matisse Museum, Cimiez Monastery and the Arena. You’ll glimpse the Modern Art Museum, old town and its church­es and final­ly the Florian can­dy fac­to­ry with a panoram­ic view from Mount Boron. This after­noon enjoy a guid­ed excur­sion of the prin­ci­pal­i­ty of Monaco includ­ing the Prince’s palace and site of Princess Grace Kelly’s grave. You will have some free time to stroll the nar­row streets before con­tin­u­ing to Monet Carlo, famous for its annu­al Formula One race. Here you will see the casi­no, the Hotel de Paris’ gar­dens and the opera house. On the way back to Nice, stop at the Fragonard per­fume fac­to­ry and the medieval vil­lage of Eze.

Day 5 — NICE – SANTA MARGHERITA LIGURE, ITALY

Enjoy a morn­ing of leisure in Nice before board­ing your after­noon train for Santa Margherita Ligure in the heart of the Italian Riviera. Your hotel is locat­ed per­fect­ly on the Ligurian coast for day trips explor­ing this unique part of Italy.

Day 6 — PORTOFINO

A full day is at leisure to explore the charm­ing town of Portofino with its col­or­ful build­ings. Take a local bus or a scenic boat ride right from town in just min­utes. We sug­gest you have lunch, browse the local bou­tiques and take a hike up the small hill to see the view from the quaint Church of San Giorgio.

Day 7 — MONTEROSSO AL MARE & CINQUE TERRE

Today you can explore the nation­al park of Cinque Terre. This area is pro­tect­ed and trans­porta­tion is delib­er­ate­ly restrict­ed. Enjoy a full day in Monterosso al Mare, the largest of the five towns and the only one with a long sandy beach. You can hike between the five towns or take the local train which runs fre­quent­ly. Return to Santa Margherita in time for overnight.

Day 8 — SANTA MARGHERITA – GENOA

You will be trans­ferred by pri­vate car to the Genoa air­port in time to catch your flight back to USA.
