Reykjavik, Iceland

2

On a recent trip to Iceland I had lunch in an exceptionally good restaurant called Mar Restaurant located near the Old Harbor in downtown Reykjavik. The head chef is a young, very creative man named Sveinn Thorri Thorvaldsson. I had a creamed lentil soup with coriander infused oil, that was absolutely delicious and unlike any lentil soup I have ever tasted in my life. My next course was a grilled salmon set on a bed of fresh avocado salsa, alongside some steamed baby vegetables and a mashed potato puree. Both dishes were excellent and the creativity of this young chef was very evident. The restaurant plays an interesting musical selection of South American and South European mix. Lunch was about $18.00 without wine. I recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Reykjavik, believe me you will not be disappointed. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the Spring and Summer months and lunch and dinner the rest of the year  and is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. Visit their website at www.marrestaurant.is  Iceland is a fantastic country of changing landscapes and various outdoor activities. Travel and find yourself in this unique atmosphere of the Northern Lights, Glacial Parks, Volcanic remnants, Geo-thermal Spas, Glacial Lakes. Enjoy such activities such as Icelandic horseback riding tours, Scuba diving expeditions, whale watching, mountain climbing, caving, ATV adventures and more.
